Most decisions deserve less thought than they get, and a few deserve much more. The Decision Weight Score (DWS) tells you which is which: round(R × I × U ÷ 27 × 10), from 1 to 10.

## What to do with the score

- **1 to 3, Decide fast:** Decide in under 10 minutes. Pick a good-enough option and move on.
- **4 to 6, Light loop:** Give it a light pass of the Decision Loop, about an hour: frame it, map the options, run one or two models, write your prediction.
- **7 to 10, Full loop:** Run the full Decision Loop, do a pre-mortem, write a journal entry with your prediction and confidence, and sleep on it for a night before you commit.

The heavier the decision, the more of the [Mentarium Decision Loop](https://mentarium.io/decision-making) it gets. One-way doors score high on reversibility by definition; see [reversible vs irreversible decisions](https://mentarium.io/mental-models/reversible-decisions) and [how to make a hard decision](https://mentarium.io/decision-making/how-to-make-a-hard-decision).
